Flu Herbal Remedies

When flu season comes around- The first thing that I seek is a flu herbal remedy because it has to run its’ course through your body. Most of us don’t have the time to wait, or prefer not to have these aches and pains any longer than we have to endure it.   Before you read these suggestions; I should tell you that I am not a doctor or medical practitioner.I will convey what I have learned from reading books and articles on the subject. You should check with your doctor before you take any medications.

Echinacea is the first thing I reach for.  You may also like to try taking vitamin “C” in a dose of 500 mg. four times a day. When I do this; the flu only lasts for 2-3 days instead of a week.

Garlic is the most potent antibiotic of any plant. Great for your body.

Eat as many citrus fruits as you can to help you get over the flu sooner.

Chicken soup with plenty of garlic and onions is good and soothing for you.

Anise seed is a great expectorant to get rid of phlegm when you cough.

Goldenseal is an antiseptic and heightens the immune system.

Licorice is an antiviral, great tasting also.

Marsh mallow is for coughs, colds, and respiratory conditions.

Mullein- Their flowers are used for an expectorant and to soothe the throat.

Seneka snakeroot- an expectorant for flu, bronchitis, and emphysema.

Slippery elm is a natural throat soother and cough suppressant.

Watercress dried makes a nice tea to help with a runny nose and cough. It also makes a great base for a salad when fresh.

Willow has a natural aspirin like composition.

Some suggestions to try to avoid the flu are:  Avoid crowds. Try to stay out of the cold as much as possible. Give up bad habits like smoking and drinking.Kiss at your own risk. Stay strong, get plenty of rest so you don’t get run down.Drink lots of liquids, reach for pain relief.

Use a heating pad  on your knees and feet to try to get warm.

I hope you will use some of these flu herbal remedies to get some relief.
